What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legislative Assistant - Judiciary Committee position at Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Democratic Caucus?
- To provide a variety of administrative and legislative services to assist Members' and their staff.
- This job may be eligible for telework opportunities.
- Receives, sorts, and routes mail; maintains and directs publications.
- Processes PennDOT as well as a variety of other state agency forms accordingly.
- Processes expense vouchers for reimbursement; reviews and pays monthly legislative bills, maintains checking account.
- Maintain schedules and calendars; arrange and confirm appointments; organize internal and external events.
- Communicate verbally and in writing to answer inquires and provide information on behalf of the Member and the office.
- Maintains various database and spreadsheet documents.
- File and retrieve contact lists and information, files, documents, and reference material.
- Track pending legislation and keeps Member informed of voting schedule
- Welcome visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquires.
- Perform work-related duties as assigned.
- Requires onsite support of team members, staff, and Members, especially during Session. Session essential employees must be physically present at the worksite on Session Days.
High school diploma or equivalent, plus a certificate/degree in office/clerical skills from a college or business/technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Members, supervisors, and constituents.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to plan and organize.
- Ability to get along with others and work effectively as a team player.
- Ability to complete tasks in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Constituent Tracking Software, and Legislative Data Processing Center software.
- Ability to follow instructions given in written and verbal form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Salary : $32,643 - $44,067
