The Photographer is responsible for increasing awareness and visibility of policy and legislation across multiple platforms on behalf of the Caucus and its legislators. This role involves creating and managing visual content that aligns with various voices and platforms while handling multiple projects with varying deadlines.
The Photographer will work closely with Communications Office Managers, Hub Managers, and Broadcast and Digital staff to ensure messaging is clear, timely, and informative. The role requires balancing creativity with efficiency to ensure materials are delivered to media and the public promptly.

- Capture high-quality photographs of state legislators, government officials, events, guests, and activities.
- Utilize Nikon mirrorless cameras and Nikon equipment (experience preferred).
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
- Edit and retouch photographs to maintain high quality and adherence to established standards using software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
- Document legislative session, press conferences, committee meetings, and other significant events.
- Manage the printing and distribution of images for legislators, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery. (experience with Canon printers preferred).
- Create and curate digital media content optimized for multiple platforms.
- Post timely and engaging content to social media platforms, including writing compelling captions to accompany photos.
- Collaborate with district office staff to ensure photo content is localized and timely.
- Maintain excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively.
- Work independently and manage time efficiently, especially during high-profile, fast-paced events.
- Stay current on trends in photography and new technologies.
- Position is based in Harrisburg but does require travel to Member events throughout the Commonwealth.
- Maintain flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Possess or develop a working knowledge of state government operations and legislative processes (preferred but not required).
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Requires onsite support of team members, staff, and Members, especially during Session. Session essential employees must be physically present at the worksite on Session Days.
- Associate’s degree, or certification in Photography, Visual Arts, Journalism, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum experience of 2 years as a professional photographer, ideally with experience in event coverage.
- Proven experience recording video event coverage.
- Valid Driver's License required- frequent travel.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player. Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and perform under strict deadlines.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The employee is exposed to the moving of mechanical parts of office equipment. Working longer than a normal working day is required based on the session schedule of the House. Travel, including occasional overnight travel, is required.
