Looking for a PT Genetic Counselor
Location : 145 King of Prussia Rd.(Radnor) 3400 Civic Ctr Blvd (PCAM)
Predominantly at the Radnor location)
Summary :
- The Genetic Counselor 2 will provide genetic counseling services and provide care coordination to patients in the practice. The incumbent will provide genetic counseling with solid application of knowledge and skills in increasingly complex situations with growing independence.
Responsibilities :
Perform complex clinical genetic counseling : o Recognize key clinical factors that suggest genetic risk beyond chief complaint o Recognize emerging technologies and advances that may affect clinical care o Identify patient education documents and forms to enhance communication effectiveness with patients o Provides cross coverage within specialty as needed
Mentorship : Model team qualities within the clinic. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for other GCs and staff within the unit
Quality improvement : Make suggestions for improvement within the clinic for process improvement
Genetic counselors are encouraged and expected to participate in a diverse set of professional activities related to clinical supervision, research and / or leadership. Demonstrate an interest in growth through participation in professional activities. Some examples may include : o Provides educational lectures to advance understanding of genetics at Penn o Facilitate patient support groups, organize patient education seminars and conferences, and create patient materials o Participation in a genetics related outreach activity o If research focused position, obtains patient consent for research study, contributes to writing of IRB protocol. Participates in data collection. Contributes towards manuscript development o Submit abstracts or give presentations at local / regional meetings
