Salary Range: DAG I: Pay Range 8 – Starting salary of $65,741
DAG II: Pay Range 9 – Starting salary of $75,208
Basic Function
Now is your chance to join our talented team to further the mission of the Financial Enforcement Section and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (OAG). The Financial Enforcement Section is part of the Civil Law Division and is responsible for collecting, by suit or otherwise, all debts, taxes, and accounts owed to the Commonwealth.
As a Deputy Attorney General, this position will involve all phases of civil litigation from the initiation of legal proceedings through posttrial motions. Responsibilities include representing the Office of Attorney General, the Commonwealth, and its agencies in bankruptcy courts across the county.
The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys and professionals within the OAG and Commonwealth agencies. Applicants should possess strong writing and oral communication skills, negotiation skills, and the organizational skills necessary to manage multiple cases simultaneously. As a Deputy Attorney General I or II gains experience, more complex work is assigned and is performed with more independence.
- Prepares, tries, and argues cases in Pennsylvania state courts and federal bankruptcy courts
- Prepares motions, objections, pleadings, briefs, and other court papers
- Works with civil investigative and administrative support teams
- Conducts legal research related to pending litigation
- Counsels clients regarding case-related activities and interfaces with them regularly
- Works with the client to devise and implement litigation strategy
- Answers routine case-related correspondence
- Performs additional and related work as required
Deputy Attorney General I:
- Graduation from an accredited school of law and admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
Deputy Attorney General II:
- Graduation from an accredited school of law, admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in professional legal work
