Job Summary
Pennsylvania Regional Ballet (PRB) – a 501(c)(3) corporation – strives to provide professional instruction in classical ballet with opportunities to explore other dance disciplines through exceptional training from nationally recognized professionals who create a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to develop as both artists and individuals.
Our organization seeks a Director of Development who assumes primary responsible for the overall financial resource development of the Corporation, including Customer Relationship Management, Fundraising and Grants, and Marketing and Public Relations. The Director of Development reports directly to the Board of Directors to oversee, implement, and evaluate the Corporation’s advancement programs and services to support our Mission, Vision and Values.
Salary and Classification
The Director of Development position will be part time, and salary will be commensurate with experience.
Duties include:
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
-Build and maintains CRM database
-Use CRM database to maintain donor notes and cultivate relationships
-Build out fundraising and giving campaign forms in CRM software
-Draft donation receipt emails for automatic distribution by CRM
-Prepare and mail annual tax letters to donors
- Donor Management
-Cultivate and solicit donors, including those connected to PRB Board and stakeholders
-Engage with Artistic Directors to incorporate PRBs successes and highlights
-Research high-capacity prospects and schedules meetings to discuss PRB
-Build rapport with prospective donors through regular and consistent touch points
-Develop collateral with targeted messaging incorporating mission, vision, values to support various appeals for funding (i.e., corporate monetary, corporate in kind, individual membership, special campaign initiatives [costumes, props, studio], ad placement, silent auction)
-Solicit ads for performance and event programs
-Send timely appreciation note within 7 days of donation receipt
-Ensure delivery of donor benefits for corporate sponsorship and membership (i.e., ticket disbursement, recognition in media, special event invites, website acknowlegement, signage and slideshow)
-Coordinate with Marketing and Advertising to enhance donor acknowledgment (i.e., social media)
- Grant Applications
-Continually identifies potential grants for application
-Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines on SharePoint
-Provide draft applications to Board for review and approval prior to submission
-Complete and submit grant proposals
-Fulfill grant reporting requirements throughout life of grant and at close out
- Records and Tracking
-Track, manage, and report donations monthly for presentation to Board
-Track, manage, and report in kind donations for presentation to Board
-Ensure accuracy of donors for inclusion in performance programs
-Update Candid as needed to ensure transparency and status
- Coordination with Board Activities
-Support Board meetings by scheduling venue, providing materials, and maintaining records
-Attend monthly board meetings and committee meetings as requested
-Oversee and manages Annual Fundraising and Grant Calendar
-Serve as liaison between Board and Artistic Staff, maintaining strong communication and positive relationships
- Marketing and Public Relations (Performances, Events, and Summer Intensive)
-Oversee and manage Annual Marketing and Advertising Calendar
-Establish branding guidelines for electronic and print communication (font, colors, logo, aesthetics)
-Support and oversee integration of branding guidelines into all materials to establish "look and feel" of PRB
-Develop PRB's messaging in alignment with mission, vision, values for use in external materials
-Develop, maintain, and execute Annual Marketing Plan that increases PRB's enrollment and ticket sales with Board support, guidance and funding
-Develop advertising and marketing campaigns to support enrollment and performances with Board support, guidance and funding
-Maintain PRB's website content
-Manage PRBs social media communications (creating content, designing posts, writing blogs, tracking and responding to posts, and analyzing data trends and effectiveness of social media marketing)
-Coordinate and receive approval of photos with Artistic Directors for use in marketing materials within 30 days of receipt from photographer
-Develop content for posters and print media to support events, performances and marketing campaigns
-Increase PRB's presence in the community through effective marketing engagement
-Analyze data to evaluate effectiveness of marketing efforts and better inform tactics and strategy
-Serve as point of contact for media and support or represent PRB in interviews and special appearances to support exposure of studio
-Develop and maintains an on-demand PRB store for merchandise
Job Skills & Qualifications
The Director of Development should possess:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar financial resource development role;
- Successful track record of increasing revenue for non-profit through fundraising campaigns and grant applications;
- Non-profit experience preferred;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent analytical skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), CRM Software;
- Experience with Squarespace and Canva preferred;
- College degree or higher preferred.
