POSITION TITLE: Field Service CDL Operator

REPORTS TO: Field Service Manager
DEPARTMENT: Field Service
STATUS: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Remote
Position Description Summary
The Field Service CDL Operator will be responsible for transporting power transformer installation and maintenance related equipment to various job sites, ensuring timely and safe delivery. Additionally, the driver will assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of power transformers in the field.
Essential Functions
- Safely operate and drive a commercial vehicle (CDL required) to transport power transformer assembly related equipment to designated locations.
- Maintain assign equipment and tools ensuring tool inventory accuracy.
- Ensure assigned equipment is clean and organized inside and out prior to arrival at each project site.
- Assist field service technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of power transformers.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working condition.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while on the job.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Communicate effectively with scheduling, field service technicians, and service manager to ensure smooth operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation or on-site work.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Desire to work and operate in a clean, neat professional environment.
- Knowledge of power transformers and related equipment is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if necessary
Education And Experience
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a clean driving record.
- Experience in operating commercial vehicles and transporting heavy equipment
Physical Job Demands
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold conditions, stand for extended periods, and be exposed to loud noise levels.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must have the ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly.
- May require high levels of concentration in a busy, dynamic environment.
Working Conditions
Monday through Friday and on-call will be required.
