Description
Hand Grind all steel parts and components used in production process using electric hand disc grinder and air chisel. Operator also uses forklifts, material handling devices, hand tools, and is responsible for locating/moving pallets of parts to and from work area. Keep work area safe, neat and clean. Other duties as assigned.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Air hand disc grinder approximately 10 lbs., air chisel approximately 5 lbs., various hand tools, battery powered hand truck, electric or propane forklift, electric jib crane with magnetic lifting device and operated with handheld control box.
Requirements
Required to stand approximately 90% of the work shift. Employee receives one ½ hour lunch break and 1 ten minute break throughout the 8 ½ hr. shift. Overtime is usually available on a voluntary basis, and seldom required.
- Employee uses air hand disc grinder for majority of time while at work station to remove excess steel and smooth surface of part/material.
- Employee also uses an air chisel to remove excess steel when not using grinder.
- Employee positions parts/materials to be ground next to work table using material lifting devices, and using a jib crane with magnetic lifting device lifts parts/materials from pallet to work table
Work table is approximately 31” High.
ii. Employee can adjust both fork truck and hand truck “forks” either up or down to reduce the amount of bending and stretching that is required, and can adjust position of material lifting device so reduce distance from “forks” to work table.
iii. Employee operates electric jib crane and magnetic lifting devices numerous times throughout the shift and should always be used to lift parts/materials over 50lbs and is encouraged and available for use when parts/materials are under 50 lbs, however employee may lift 50lbs routinely during shift before grinding and after grinding.
iv. Jib Crane is operated using a hand held control box.
v. This operation is self paced and length of time spent on each piece may vary depending on amount of work (grinding) required to meet material specifications.
- Required to operate hand truck (material lifting devices that are used to lift pallets of materials, and which are operated using hand controls to lift, position, and drive unit.) Pallets are moved to work area and/or to the next production process or staging area.
