Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized HR Generalist for a 3-month temporary assignment to support HR operations at the plant level.
This individual will serve as the sole HR presence on-site and will be responsible for handling a broad scope of HR functions, including employee relations, onboarding, attendance tracking, and administrative support.
The HR Generalist will report directly to the Corporate HR Director and work closely with plant leadership to ensure HR services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Champion employee engagement by fostering open communication and proactive problem-solving across all shifts.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and support, connecting them with the appropriate resources when needed.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Partner with Operations and the Corporate HR Director to assess staffing needs and ensure timely recruitment for open positions.
- Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts, including job postings across multiple platforms (internal boards, really, newspaper ads) to attract quality candidates.
- Prepare comprehensive orientation packets and onboarding materials to ensure a smooth new hire experience.
- Facilitate all onboarding activities—from drug testing and document collection to entering new hires into internal systems (FOBs, ERP system, etc…).
- Conduct engaging and informative orientation presentations, reinforcing policies, procedures, and key expectations.
- Complete E-Verify screenings to confirm legal work eligibility and maintain compliance.
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee rosters and organizational records.
- Manage FMLA, short-term disability, and related leave processes in coordination with Corporate HR.
- Provide administrative support to supervisors and managers, including documentation, reporting, and timely follow-up.
- Compile and submit weekly staffing updates, hiring activity reports, and documentation to Corporate HR leadership.
Attendance Tracking
- Accurately record employee attendance and PTO in the Breeze system on a daily basis.
- Proactively communicate attendance issues to supervisors and employees; initiate Attendance Recap Conversations (ARCs) as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in daily morning leadership meetings to align on staffing, operations, and HR updates.
- Welcome and engage walk-in applicants, conduct floor introductions, and support on-the-spot recruitment efforts.
- Provide general office support including phone coverage and administrative assistance.
Qualifications
- 2 years of HR generalist or related experience in a manufacturing or plant setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of HR operations, including onboarding, payroll coordination, and employee relations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
