A Typical Day
The Core Non-Default Specialist will assist the department supervisor with oversight of the department’s processes and special projects, perform QA/QC, research complex issues, assist with escalations and audits, ensure procedures and policies are current, provide assistance and training to co-workers, as well as stepping in when the supervisor is unavailable.
The Special Loans department is responsible for the servicing of a variety of special loan products such as Adjustable Rate Mortgages (ARM), Buydown, and Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC). In addition, the team processes master file updates to critical fields in the System of Record at the direction of other business units, including updating modification terms in the system when a modification is complete to ensure that the loan is serviced according to the modification terms.

The Core Non-Default Specialist Will
- Implement processes that assist with the increase of quality and production metrics
- Maintain daily and monthly production reports to present to management
- Process job functions in accordance with established (Service Level Agreement) SLA
- Assist with creation of policies and procedures and P-Tree charts
- Research consumer accounts and the mortgage servicing platform to ensure accurate and timely data is updated on each account
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
- Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of special mortgage products preferred (Adjustable Rate Mortgages, Buydowns, Step Rates, Balloons, HELOC)
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Must have strong business mathematical skills
- Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
