Summary
As a Support Specialist at Pennyroyal Center, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate support to individuals facing mental health challenges and substance use disorders. This position is essential in helping clients navigate their recovery journey while contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional behavioral health services.
Responsibilities
1) Provide recovery supportive services for individuals associated to substance use and/or co-occurring disorders.
2) Encourage and facilitate client involvement in 12 step support groups and other community recovery support networks.
3) Assist in de-escalating client symptomatology in substance use crisis situations through one-to-one intervention and peer support services.
4) Must be adaptable to a weekend or evening schedule depending on the crisis client/program needs.
5) Work as a part of a multi-disciplined team in outpatient services with emphasis on providing client with the least restrictive services and/or referrals.
6) Assist with transportation of clients to treatment, appointments, meetings, etc. when necessary.
7) Travel to other clinic areas may be expected based on the needs of the program.
8) Facilitate outreach to community partners (including but not limited to hospitals, police departments, treatment centers, mental health agencies, clinics, and non-profit charities)
9) Assist community partners with needle exchange program.
10) Provide information and resources of substance use treatment in the community.
11) Conduct psychoeducational classes in regard to 12 step program and other recovery evidence based curriculums.
12) Facilitate/chair self-help meetings at recovery center when needed.
13) Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience in the Substance Abuse/Mental Health field including a working knowledge of the 12 step recovery model. To complete and achieve Peer Support Certification within 6 months of hire date. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and present proof of automobile insurance. Must pass a Criminal Record Check and Sexual Offender Registry check. Must have present proof of a recent (less than a 1-year-old) TB skin test.
