What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESPOND, Clinical Assessor position at Pennyroyal Center?
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical assessors are first point of contact for persons in the Pennyroyal area seeking emergency or outpatient mental health, substance abuse or developmental disability services. Calls will also come from agencies referring patients or seeking information about services.
Duties include:
(1) Providing prompt, courteous and accurate response to telephone calls including completing clinical triage, de-escalating situations as necessary and gathering pertinent demographic, clinical and payor information within a reasonable time frame. This includes screening calls for appropriateness.
(2) Assessing the needs of callers as emergent, urgent, or routine and matching calls with appropriate levels of care.
(3) Referring after assessment to appropriate clinical services/programs or involving other community entities as necessary.
(4) Entering the appointment and/or calling on-call emergency staff including service coordinators, therapists, foster care coordinator, or other staff as deemed necessary.
(5) Matching callers to clinical services based on specialization and credentialing of clinicians and the caller's payor information.
(6) Completing quality improvement assessments as assigned by supervisor.
(7) Keeping director of department informed of problems and assisting in their resolution.
(8) Being familiar with all Pennyroyal Center services/programs and knowing their admission criteria.
(9) Being available for possible shift rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays and remain alert on all shifts assigned.
(10) Gather client insurance information and obtain precertification when needed.
(11) Enter data on phone calls into CMHC system.
(12) Other duties as required/assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in clinical-related area; 2 or more years experience (preferred) in mental health field; familiarity with history taking and DSM-IV diagnoses with children and adults. Must be computer literate; network experience preferred. Must pass a Criminal Record Check and Sexual Offender Registry check. Must present proof of a recent (less than 1-year-old) TB skin test.
