Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a dedicated full-time (40 hours per week; benefits eligible) Child and Adult Care Food Program Specialist (CACFP). As a CACFP Specialist, you are responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the program, including overseeing meal planning, monitoring compliance with CACFP regulations, and providing nutrition education to providers.
This is a hybrid position based out of our Bangor location.
The Child and Adult Care Food Program is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children and adults.
Location: Bangor, Maine
CACFP Specialist Responsibilities:
- Ensure all home providers meet CACFP health and nutrition services meet CACFP requirements and State of Maine licensing standards for meal services.
- You manage contracts between the State Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Penquis, and contracts between Penquis and Home Day Care Providers.
- You identify and contract with Home Providers and train them in meal service and nutrition.
- Provide CACFP annual training sessions on program operations and nutrition.
- Maintain required documents (weekly production reports, menus, meal counts, attendance records, child demographics, monthly USDA reimbursement and disbursement to Home Providers, and Home Provider licenses).
- Develop and prepare quarterly provider newsletter.
- Conduct three monitoring visits per year per provider based on routine weekly schedule of visits.
CACFP Specialist Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in social services, health, or business field, and 1-2 years paid work experience in related area.
- Reliable, insured transportation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency and experience, including word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The starting rate of pay is $17.66 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
