What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Pensacola Lung Group?
A non-exempt position responsible for direct patient care under the supervision of physician and clinical manager. The person in this position works under general supervision. This position is responsible for various shifts and may be subject to over 40 hours per week and call back as required. Assists physicians with patient care and follow-up providing direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting. Duties to include, but not limited to, interviewing patients, preparing patients and assisting physicians with patient exams and/or treatment. Continuing responsibilities including prepping charts, EMR documentation and clerical work as necessary.
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduation from approved training program for Medical Assistants.
Minimum Work Experience
- At least one year of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification required
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Certified/Registered to practice in Florida
- Maintenance of current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification for HealthCare workers
Required Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities
- Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
- Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed.
- Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.
- Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
- Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
