POSITION SUMMARY:
The Corporate Accountant provides support to the business unit to fulfill its accounting, invoicing, purchasing, and budgeting needs. The individual will also be required to assist with management reporting, financial planning and value creation. Attention to detail and superior organizational skills are essential. This role will focus on fulfilling these duties specifically for INDYCAR and IMS Productions.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Accounting and Month End Close Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Identify and prepare accounting entries, including expense accruals and adjustments to accurately report monthly results
- Create invoices for internal and external billing, and monitor accounts receivable and related collections
- Perform AP functions – create, approve, and match purchase orders; review, code, and delegate AP invoices; review, code and approve employee expense reports; research discrepancies; prepare reports
- Review work of Travel Coordinator including expense report approvals, hotel, and ground transportation folios, ensuring accuracy and appropriate documentation
- Maintain fixed asset listing and oversee the capital expenditure approval process
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations
- Assist with preparation and processing of seasonal payroll
Management Reporting:
- Assist with creation of monthly reporting packets
- Review detailed financials monthly and prepare variance analysis. Meet with department leaders to review and document causes of variances
- Maintain accurate analysis and records of special projects and race event details beyond what is available in accounting systems to deliver periodic updates to management
Planning and Forecasting:
- Assist with the financial planning process, including the preparation and submission of operating and capital budgets
- Maintain continuous forecasting based on changing assumptions throughout fiscal year
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
Skills/Experience
- Minimum one to two years relevant accounting experience
- Innovative thinker and self-starter
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and follow up on tasks and perform multiple responsibilities efficiently and accurately at the same time
- Experience with financial and management reporting
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Adaptive a plus
- High integrity and confidentiality

Travel/Work Hours/Flexibility
- General office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
- While not typical, longer hours and weekends are required for the Month of May and other major racing events/seasonal needs
- Little to no requirements for travel
