Position: Manager- Paint
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Reports To: Plant Manager
Description:
The Paint Operations Manager is responsible for oversight of the paint team which is comprised of 3 areas: Paint Preparation, Paint Production and Polish. The position is tasked with leading and managing respective team members ensuring high performance resulting in quality and the delivery cost expectations. The position also requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the many in house clients.
Essential Job Functions:
- Exercises responsibility for day-to-day work direction and management of paint team comprised of the three phases of paint work
- Provide technical assistance to team members including:
- Work with team to provide training and assistance on technical projects
- Troubleshoot with plant team and management when issues arise
- Work with clients and plant team on creative solutions for client projects
- Responsible to monitor and maintain projects within quoted project budget
- Assist with quoting services or providing proposals for new potential projects
- Perform all personnel supervision tasks including interviewing, training, performance reviews, coaching/disciplinary matters, safety compliance, timekeeping, etc.
- Responsible for leading and managing respective team members ensuring high performance and technical competency, resulting in quality and delivery cost expectations
- Maintain plant efficiency managing OT, keeping jobs within allotted times
- Drive and improve plant standards of conduct, cleanliness and process flow
Qualifications:
- Experience in a Paint Production facility
- High degree of technical skill and expertise required
- Strong automotive paint skills; prior team leadership preferred
- Quality and Safety Oriented

- Excellent communication, both oral and written. Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone, email and written means
- Ability to identify, train and lead high performance teams to successful outcomes
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to multi-task while ensuring follow up and follow through on required tasks
- High degree of organization and ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment
- Intermediate or higher skills with computer applications (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Requires moderate to high level of physical activity
