The Grant Portfolio Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management and strategic optimization of the grant lifecycle, from identifying funding opportunities to ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory requirements, including IRS guidelines. This role emphasizes staying informed of industry best practices, fostering relationships with funding partners, and proactively implementing strategies to maximize grant success.

Skills And Knowledge

  • Grant Strategy Optimization:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive grant strategy that aligns with the College's mission and long-term goals.
  • Identify high-impact grant opportunities and tailor proposals to maximize funding potential.
  • Analyze past performance to optimize grant-seeking approaches and improve success rates.
  • Grant Lifecycle Management:
  • Oversee the development, submission, and negotiation of grant proposals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
  • Manage the implementation of awarded grants, including tracking timelines, deliverables, and expenditures.
  • Coordinate internal teams to ensure grant activities meet organizational priorities.
  • Financial Management, Reporting, and IRS Compliance:
  • Prepare and monitor grant budgets, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately and in compliance with grantor requirements and IRS regulations.
  • Prepare and submit timely financial and programmatic reports to funding agencies.
  • Ensure all grant-related financial activities comply with IRS reporting standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively address discrepancies in grant payments and expenditures.
  • Relationship Development and Stewardship:
  • Cultivate strong relationships with grantors, funding partners, and stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for grant organizations, ensuring clear communication and alignment of expectations.
  • Promote the College’s achievements and initiatives to strengthen existing and prospective funding partnerships.
  • Compliance and Industry Best Practices:
  • Stay updated on changes in grant regulations, IRS guidelines, and industry trends.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on grant processes, compliance standards, and best practices.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to grant agreements, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactive Strategies for Success:
  • Implement systems to track, prioritize, and evaluate grant opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify funding needs and align proposals with institutional goals.
  • Continuously improve grant processes to enhance efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness.

Typical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant management, development, or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of grant compliance, financial management, IRS regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in developing and optimizing grant strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
