Summary This position is located in the Antiterrorism & Force Protection (ATFP) Division in Falls Church, Virginia. The functions of the ATFP Division are delineated in DoD, United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), and Agency guidance documents. As an Information Operations (IO) Specialist on an Antiterrorism Risk Vulnerability Assessment (ATRVA) team, with the responsibility for performing National Capital Region (NCR) vulnerability assessments, and providing assessment and analysis expertise. Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following : Evaluates and makes recommendations to Directors, Commanders, Defense Agency Heads, and Designated and Senior Officials of the Pentagon Reservation and DoD-occupied facilities on achievable means of enhancing communication networks and / or systems to ensure local distribution networks and supporting off-site commercial facilities have the capacity, survivability, reliability, and security to support the mission. Ensure the communications topology as shown in network diagrams matches the physical implementation. Conducts technical communications vulnerability assessments of computer networks, telecommunications and other communication systems that directly supports the Antiterrorism Force Protection, Mission Assurance and Defense Critical Infrastructure Programs at Pentagon Reservation and DoD-occupied facilities, and other agencies. Performs single-point critical node analysis of the Pentagon Reservation and DoD-occupied facility's telecommunications, other communications systems, and computer networks to include supporting infrastructure (power, ventilation, fuel, fire protection etc.). Provides recommendations to reduce system vulnerabilities due to natural and manmade incidents. Documents criteria, standards and techniques to guide and assist Pentagon Reservation and DoD-occupied facilities communications staff in handling dynamic response design of communications infrastructure systems, and the analysis and design of difficult and unusual systems. Prepares assessment reports based upon vulnerabilities and concerns observed during Antiterrorism Risk Vulnerability Assessment visits. In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, you may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement : One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to : 1) apply Information Technology principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system; 2) apply knowledge of the IT architectures and infrastructure, including design features and operational processes employed to ensure the security and integrity of communications networks; 3) apply knowledge to identify vulnerabilities, and to assess potential security violations or problem through analysis of communication and computer network systems.
