We have an opportunity for a IoT Operations Program Senior Manager to join our Apex, NC team. You will be in a leadership role in the Pool IoT business and requires a very dynamic candidate with strong skills and pedigree in multiple disciplines including program and project management, process definition and execution, product roadmap management, lean practices, business acumen, new product development, and IoT value creation. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in engineering leadership, new product development, program and/or project management experience, process development experience, and leadership of both strategic and tactical objectives. Additionally, the ideal candidate would have experience with complex systems, having led development of smart products as well as full-stack IoT solutions including smart end devices, edge/gateways, cloud backend solutions and services, mobile and web applications.In this role, the IoT Operation Program Manager will work with General Managers and their product management teams to evaluate potential opportunities, prioritize value creation, align business R&D and product roadmaps, conduct resource and project planning, define technical solutions that represent customer and business needs, and direct and coordinate project activities in order to ensure project, organization, and business goals are successfully accomplished within the approved cost, schedule and performance targets. This candidate will foster a positive, collaborative, innovative team environment across the global team including all company functions - product management, project management, marketing, operations, engineering, finance, supply chain, sales, quality, and product support. Reporting to the Director of IoT Engineering, this is a challenging role with an outstanding opportunity to impact the future direction of our business.
You will:
- Partner with General Managers (GMs) and Product Managers to lead the Opportunity Evaluation process, to include new product introductions, product and software value-add, product and software sustainment requests, C2C ecosystem integrations, and other value-add opportunities.
- Own the IoT Roadmap process through collaboration with business stakeholders to include GMs, Product Managers, Project Managers, IoT Engineering, and NPD Engineering while focusing on optimal value-add to the business to enable strategic and financial objectives.
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end ecosystem release and change management within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) development environment that requires full-stack coordination to ensure quality of release and may include integration of multiple parallel projects and or Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to enable a comprehensive system solution delivery.
- Champion SAFe process execution and delivery, establishing metrics to track performance and provide improved visibility while leveraging lean practices such as Kaizen events to ensure continuous improvement.
- Promote and support program backlog grooming and planning while working with Product Managers and Business Analysts (Product Owners) to clearly define Voice of Customer and Voice of Market in order to drive customer focus and improved user story definition for agile teams.
- Collaborate with all project managers on parallel projects within the IoT ecosystem to facilitate understanding and delivery of system solutions in a timely and coordinated manner to successfully deliver committed business objectives.
- Work with Enterprise Architects, IoT System Architects, Managed Services, and other team to ensure optimal cloud operations, ensuring adequate and proactive planning of infrastructure improvements to optimize user experience, system performance, and operational costs.
Key Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Software, or related; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
- 5 years Project Management experience, leading cross-functional project teams focused on hardware, firmware, and software solutions and complex systems.
- 5 years of engineering experience (prefer high volume production, consumer electronics, and product development environment)
- 2 strategic initiatives led, requiring vision, strategic planning, and execution involving multiple disciplines and business stakeholders.
- 3 years of people management is highly desirable.
- Experience and understanding of IoT value creation beyond end devices.
- Experience with one or more Agile software development processes; SAFe certification is a plus.
- Experience with one or more stage-gate product development processes
- Experience with opportunity evaluation and product roadmap creation
- Understanding of operational budgets and business finance
- Previous full-stack IoT experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with innate ability to build trust and "make the complex simple."
- Need for flexible domestic and international travel according to business necessity as responsibilities may require project oversight with other Pentair global facilities (10% - 30% travel).
Compensation:
For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $128,500 - $238,600 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.
This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
