Duties and Responsibilities
· Analyze and interpret architectural and engineering plans to determine the scope of work.
· Identify and quantify cost factors, including production time, materials, and labor expenses.
· Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials and scope of work, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating prices.
· Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
· Perform detailed material take-offs to determine quantities and costs.
· Recommend value engineering solutions to make projects more profitable.
· Assist in the development of project milestone schedules to align with client and team expectations.
· Understand and evaluate potential project risks to ensure cost-effectiveness and feasibility.
· Provide support for a variety of other tasks, both in the office and the field, as needed to contribute to overall project success.
· Attend over the phone and in person appointments for estimates.
· Able to keep frequent communication with client for updates and progress.
· Attend weekly progress meetings with senior management to provide updates, discuss challenges, and propose solutions.
· Always exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor, whether on the job site or in the office.
· Send final invoices and follow up for payment as needed.
· Complete final punch list as needed.
Qualifications
· College degree in construction or engineering is preferred but not required.
· At least 3-5 years construction estimating experience is preferred.
· Broad experience in estimating commercial construction projects - ideally having been exposed to/estimated projects from the ground up ranging up to $10M.
Experience with use of Construction Management software.
Requirements
· Staff are scheduled to work a minimum of 40 hours in a work week. Staff members are expected to report on time and work for the duration of their scheduled shift. Work hours may vary if other duties are required.
· Must have a clean driving record with a valid license.
· Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
