The Residential Loan Officer is responsible for originating mortgage loans, guiding clients through the loan application process, and ensuring a smooth and efficient transaction.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all transactions comply with federal and state regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Stay informed about market and industry trends, interest rates, and mortgage products to provide clients with up-to-date information and advice.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the Bank’s ongoing mission, vision and core values.
  • Meet with clients to understand their mortgage needs and financial situation, providing expert advice on loan options and terms.
  • Assist clients in completing loan applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of required documentation.
  • Review and analyze applicants’ financial information, credit reports, and other relevant data to determine loan eligibility.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other referral sources to generate new business opportunities.
  • Participate in sales and marketing activities to promote mortgage products and services, including attending networking events and conducting presentations.
  • Promotes and cross sells other bank products and services.
  • Maintains contact with applicants throughout the application process to ensure a timely and smooth transaction including answering questions, explanation of documents, disclosures, interest rates, and commitment letters.
  • Works closely with Loan Processing and Underwriting to ensure conditions are being met timely and accurately.
  • Contributes to the development of department workflow to continually enhance efficiencies both independently and with the team.
  • Participates in ongoing personal training and development.
  • Works with other employees of the department & organization as a positive, enthusiastic and proactive team member.
  • Performs additional duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of retail mortgage origination experience. Must hold a valid Mortgage Loan Origination (MLO) license as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage products, the loan origination process, secondary market underwriting criteria, and able to accurately analyze financial data including income calculation for self-employed borrowers.
  • Proficiency with AUS underwriting tools (DU/LP) and Microsoft Office Suite. Prior experience with Encompass 360 is helpful.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Sales oriented with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
