QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Current teacher certification and minimum three years teaching experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience in special education or coordinating extended year programs.
- Training in de-escalation and behavior management.
- Demonstrated familiarity with school/District resources.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing special education.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Extended Year Program
Job Overview:
The Extended School Year Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the implementation of extended school year programs to support students with diverse learning needs. This role involves collaborating with school staff, parents, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth and effective extended school year experience. The Coordinator will focus on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that addresses the unique needs of students requiring additional educational support during the extended school year. Preparation and planning for this program will begin in early spring and will continue throughout the summer.
Reports to: Director of Student Services
Work Year: Summer EYP (April 28, 2025 -August 8, 2025)
Salary: $6,000 stipend
Performance Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Development:
- Collaborate and meet with the Director of Student services in the spring leading up to, during, and after the program.
- Oversee the hiring of staff members for the EYP.
- Communicate with Central Services to inform any out of district hires
- Communicate with Payroll Coordinator to receive payroll documentation
- Prepare appointment letters of hire for all hires who work in the program
Collaboration and Communication:
- Foster open communication channels with parents, teachers, and support staff to keep them informed about the extended school year program.
- Collaborate with school administrators, special education teams, and related service providers to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to student support.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):
- Collaborate with the special education team to ensure that the goals outlined in students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are effectively addressed during the extended school year.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and any incidents during the extended school year.
- Prepare reports as needed for the Director of Student Services that summarize the impact and effectiveness of the program.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
The physical and environmental demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to work in a normal classroom and school building environment.
- Ability to move freely about the building to perform duties with students and teachers.
- Ability to utilize computers and other administrative technologies appropriate to the position.
