What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Coordinator position at People and Animal Learning Services, PALS?
Primary Responsibilities:
Fundraising/Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive donor acknowledgement and stewardship process.
- Oversee all annual appeals, campaigns, solicitation efforts, sponsorship requests, and third-party fundraising initiatives.
- Assist with the creation of letters, identifying recipients, setting timelines, scheduling donor meetings, and providing follow-up and status reports.
- Support the solicitation of major gifts and planned giving as needed.
- Participate in fundraising, development, and capital campaign committees as required.
- Organize and maintain the donor database, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Assist in meeting quarterly and annual fundraising goals specific to individual donors.
- Track data and prepare quarterly development reports for the Board.
- Process all received gifts (private donors, corporate sponsorships, and in-kind donations), prepare gift acknowledgements and benefits, and maintain accurate records.
Events/Public Relations
- Assist in the planning and execution of small donor-related events, under the guidance of the Development Director.
- Assists in preparation, coordination, and execution of annual fundraising events.
- Assists with cultivation, development, and substantiating donor relationships to enhance community engagement and support.
- Collaborate on short- and long-term marketing strategies related to events.
- Assist with auction tracking systems and reporting.
- Provide graphic design and creative materials as needed.
- Support client and volunteer recruitment efforts as directed.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor assigned budget line items.
- Assist with the development of the annual budget.
- Contribute to appreciation efforts for all constituent groups.
- Attend regular staff and development meetings, including weekly status updates with the Development Director.
- Respond promptly to emails and phone messages within 24 hours.
- Ensure compliance with all PALS policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Development Director.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in donor relations, fundraising, or a related field.
- Proficiency with donor management databases (preferably Bloomerang) and reporting systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
- Familiarity with event planning is a plus.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
