Reports to : Chief Administrative OfficerSupervises : Accounting Department.Direct Report : ControllerTeam Members : Payroll Manager, Payroll Specialist, Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable SpecialistsESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees all aspects of the general ledger accountingSupervises the accounting department, works with each team member to develop goals, conducts regular check-in meetings, and provides regular feedback and supportManages cash balances, investments, and banking relationshipsOversees the annual audit and tax return preparationManages the month-end close-out processPrepares the monthly DMH revenue analysis and enters the monthly journal entryWorks with Controller to produce cash flow analyses and forecastsWith the payroll team, responsible for the bi-weekly disbursement of payroll including garnishments, benefits, and taxes consistent with federal and state wage and hour lawsAssists with the creation and implementation of the annual budgetPerforms regular projections and assists with budget modifications as neededParticipates in regular meetings with program leadership, provides financial reports, and serves as liaison between programs and financeAnalyzes key vendor relationships to ensure maximum cost savingsWorks in conjunction with the Pery Consulting Group (PCG) Director of Fiscal Grant Management and PCG Consulting CFO to ensure that grants are maximized and program staff are kept apprised of grant performanceParticipates in Board, Finance Committee and Audit Committee meetingsQUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred10 or more years’ progressive experience in finance required. Non-profit finance experience preferredExtensive knowledge of cost center accounting is a must. Government grant experience is preferred5 years or more experience managing staff and ability and commitment to coach, nurture and develop staffDetail oriented with excellent leadership, time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal and computer skillsAble to work in high-pressure situations and meet deadlinesValid CA Driver’s license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving recordWORK ENVIRONMENT Field (may need to travel) and indoor office environmentOn occasion drive to different local sitesRegularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 35 poundsWill necessitate working in busy and loud environmentsWill be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odorMay need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the dayEXPECTED BEHAVIORS OF ALL STAFF Act as a role modelDemonstrate a sense of responsibilityContinuously learn and improveAcknowledge your own areas of improvementHear and provide honest, specific and direct feedbackCreate an environment where everyone is welcomed, valued and respectedEqual Opportunity EmployerThe People Concern is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to non-discrimination in employment.
