Job Description
The Director - Medical-surgical nursing (RN) is responsible for managing the overall operations of the Medical-Surgical (Medical-surgical nursing) Units. This leadership role ensures high-quality patient care, supervises and mentors staff, develops and implements approved standards and guidelines, and collaborates with department managers to optimize unit performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of Med Surg Units, ensuring optimal patient care and efficiency.
- Develop and enforce standards, protocols, and best practices for clinical excellence.
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and mentorship to nursing staff.
- Collaborate with management teams on policy implementation and process improvements.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation to enhance patient outcomes.
- Serve as a key liaison between nursing staff, administration, and other healthcare departments.
Minimum Education & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Required
- Master’s Degree (Preferred)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Medical-Surgical Nursing setting (Required)
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing (Required)
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage stressful situations effectively.
- Experience leading nursing teams and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
Licenses & Certifications
- Current and active NC RN license or Compact RN License (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification (Required)
