The Research Technician is an entry level position conducting laboratory experiments and hands on study activities of projects in areas of Pharmacokinetics, Safety Pharmacology and Toxicology as well as provide for welfare of test systems used in biomedical research for a variety of laboratory species within the limits defined in their training record.

What you will be doing?
- Maintain study support areas and procedure room(s) set-up, keeping them clean, stocked with supplies and ready for use.
- Assist in study related functions including routine care such as feeding, watering, sanitation, maintenance, and room cleaning.
- Provide handling, restraint, identification, and randomization of test systems.
- Perform various biological sample (e.g. blood, urine, fecal and tissue) collection procedures.
- Perform, label and collect various study requirements such as observations, food and water consumption, body weight(s) and enter data.
- Perform various dosing techniques such as oral and iv administrations.
- Maintain records in an accurate and legible manner.
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of equipment such as washers, scales and balances, and analytical equipment.
- Provide weekend, holiday and after-hours work, usually on a rotational basis.
- Participate or assist in the conduct of studies and help solve technical problems.
- Assist in laboratory species health programs.
- Provide observations for detection of disease or other health problems, and administer prescribed treatments as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
The Requirements of the Position:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- 1 year experience working in a laboratory preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and animal behavior observation skills
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Computer skills, including the ability to learn a new system
- Ability to work under specific time constraints
- Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays; sometimes on short notice.
