Position Title: Dance Explorers Teacher
Grade Levels: K-1st Grade
Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays, 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Contracted Position: ASAP - May 9th
Compensation: Payed hourly. Includes .5 hours of paid lesson planning time per week.
No Class: 3/24 - 4/1, 4/18
Must Attended an In-Person Orientation
Position Summary:
We are seeking a creative and passionate Dance Explorers Teacher to introduce young students in grades K-1 to the fundamentals of dance. This position is an opportunity to spark a love for movement and expression in early childhood through a variety of dance styles and activities designed to be fun and engaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a dance lesson plans using organizations curriculum that introduces basic dance movements and concepts, tailored to the developmental stages of K-1st grade students.
- Create a dynamic and supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity and joy in movement.
- Teach various fundamental dance techniques, ensuring activities are age-appropriate and accessible for all students.
- Monitor student progress and adapt lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom, managing dance materials and space effectively.
- Collaborate with other educators to integrate dance with other artistic and educational content.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in Dance, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- Experience teaching dance to young children, with strong knowledge of creative movement and child development.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning environment.
- Commitment to the organization’s mission of providing equitable access to art education.
