What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support Assistant position at People's Independent Bank?
The IT Support Assistant assists the IT Administrator in maintaining the computer network for the bank. They provide technical support and ensure the bank runs smoothly. The IT Support Assistant monitors and maintains the company helpdesk, the bank computer systems, installs and configures hardware and software, and solves technical problems. Because of the nature of the job, work may occasionally be required beyond the normal operating hours of the bank, including weekends.
IT Support duties and responsibilities of the job
The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Helpdesk monitoring
- Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
- Responding in a timely manner to service issues and helpdesk requests
- Providing technical support across the company (this may be in person or over the phone)
- Setting up accounts for new employees
- Repairing and replacing equipment as necessary
- Testing new technology
- Performing any duties as directed by the IT Administrator or senior staff (as it relates to information technology).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and at least a medium level of how to use it
- Learning basic banking rules and regulations.
- Analyzing daily, weekly, monthly IT related reports.
- Assisting Bank customers with Online Banking, Mobile Deposit, etc.
IT Support job qualifications and requirements
Although a formal degree is not necessary, any advanced studies in computer science or a related field can be helpful.
Some qualities that should be displayed include:
- A technical, logical thought process
- An ability to stick to strict deadlines
- An ability to prioritize and delegate
- A keen eye for detail
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to self-motivate
- Forward thinking with the ability to see problems and handle them without being told
Also worth noting is the occasionally physical nature of the role as they may have to lift and carry heavy equipment.
Additional training will be provided by the IT Administrator and/or Information Security Officer.
