Description
Job Title: IT Specialist / Plans and Policy
Location: Fort Meade, Maryland
Security Clearance: Active DoD Federal Secret with T3 Investigation
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Policy Development & Implementation:
- Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with DoD regulations, industry standards, and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure policies address operational needs, security requirements, and compliance obligations.
- Review and update IT policies regularly to reflect changes in technology, regulations, and best practices.
- Strategic Planning:
- Assist in the development of long-term IT strategies and plans to support the organization's mission and goals.
- Analyze current IT processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinate with IT leadership to align technology initiatives with the organization's overall strategic plan.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure IT policies and plans comply with DoD standards, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) and other relevant cybersecurity guidelines.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within the IT environment and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT policies, procedures, and plans, ensuring they are easily accessible and understood by all stakeholders.
- Prepare reports and presentations on IT policy and planning initiatives for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of IT policies and plans, making adjustments as necessary to meet organizational needs.
- Training & Awareness:
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Promote awareness of IT policies and the importance of compliance across the organization.
- Serve as a point of contact for questions and guidance related to IT policies and planning.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT planning, policy development, or a related field within a DoD or classified environment.
- Experience with DoD standards, regulations, and compliance requirements is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of IT policy development, strategic planning, and risk management processes.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks, including RMF and STIGs.
- Proficiency in developing clear and concise documentation, policies, and reports.
- Experience with IT governance and compliance tools and methodologies.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- CompTIA Security or equivalent.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent certification in IT service management.
