The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Provide direct supervision and oversight of the Waiver Unit for the Regional Field Office, Region 5.• Provide direct supervision and oversight to all Waiver Unit staff.• Represent OPWDD DDRFO 5 at all waiver denial fair hearings. Point person for all waiver denial family conferences. • Point person for Notice of Decisions as they pertain to the waiver unit for enrollments, denials, terminations, service authorizations and environmental/vehicle modifications. Attend all relevant fair hearings as required.• Provide direct supervision for all environmental and vehicle modification applications. • Provide oversight and supervision to the Local School Transition staff, including monitoring all activities related to transitioning individuals from local schools. • Provide oversight and supervision to the service amendment (SART) team staff and SART QRT.• Provide oversight and supervision for all waiver terminations and interregional transfers.• Active voting member of QRT. • Ensures all Waiver Unit trackers are maintained and updated timely. • Attend all community of practices for each team. • Ensure completion of mandatory trainings for unit staff.Selection Criteria: • Possess excellent and professional communication, public speaking, writing and organizational skills.• Ability to initiate and maintain working relationships with people served as families, advocates, community representatives, voluntary providers, DDRO, DDSOO and other agency staff.• Excellent computer knowledge and ability to maintain databases and tracking systems.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team as required as well as provide direct supervision to unit staff.• Possess acceptable time and attendance work record.• Ability to participate in requested functions and activities during evening hours and weekends as requested.LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all#LI-MF1

Additional Comments • If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.• Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the downstate adjustment. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for M/C Grade M-1 ($90,931) and Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). Downstate Adjustment is also added to the job rate ($114,940).• Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. If you are being impacted by closure, please indicate this on your resume. • All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility. • If you are employed by state government you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
