SUMMARY:
A Peoples Bank Teller is an entry-level position responsible for executing day-to-day banking activities, including the delivery of client-facing services and processing transactions, in coordination with the customer service function. The overall objective is to utilize banking knowledge to provide high-quality customer service and to help the branch generate revenue by delivering optimal customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as the first point of contact for Peoples Bank customers and provide a positive first impression through friendly and efficient customer service.
2. Perform efficient and accurate banking transactions and process incoming/outgoing cash deposits.
3. Accepts checks for cashing, accepts deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, makes changes, and issues receipts.
4. Receives savings deposits, pays withdrawals after verifying balance and signature; redeems U.S. Savings Bonds. Accepts tax deposits and various utility payments.
5. Receives loan payments when payment due notice or installment loan coupon accompanies payment.
6. Performs various balancing functions, including ATM.
7. Processes night deposit and mail-in deposits.
8. Sells money orders, cashier’s checks, and other bank services.
9. Responds to customers’ inquiries as appropriate.
10. Maintains proper cash level in drawers, keeps cash secure, and maintains a high level of safety for the bank. Services ATM according to schedule or need.
11. Accepts “stop payment” requests and address changes, distributing to the proper personnel for processing.
12. Adhere to bank policies, operational controls and regulatory procedures to ensure the safety and security of customer and bank assets.
13. Maintain working knowledge of client accounts as well as new and existing products and services offered.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) May be asked to train inexperienced personnel in teller functions.
2) Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Education – High School Diploma or GED
- Experience – Minimum of two (2) years banking or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS/EQUIPMENT USED:
- General office equipment: computer, printer, fax, copier, scanner, calculator, etc.
- Computer knowledge in a Windows environment.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
