Job Summary/Objective:

The Clinic Supervisor coordinates the day-to-day operations of patient care, patient flow, employee staffing, and provider productivity within the clinic in conjunction with the Clinical Management team. Maintains open communication with providers, staff, patients, families, and other departments for an effective team approach to accomplish clinic goals and objectives. This position will also provide regular nursing support to the department they are assigned. Performs all defined services and other related duties as assigned in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic.


Protected Health Information Requirements/Access:

  • This position will require the use or disclosure of protected health Information.
  • This position will use the Treatment and Health Care Operations classes of protected health information.
  • Restrictions on the protected health information for this position will follow the Privacy Policies of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc.
  • Use or disclosure of protected health information not routinely available to this position will follow procedures assessed by or directed by management.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates the day-to-day clinical practice within the department including providing nursing support in the department on a regular basis.
  • Supervises sufficient qualified staff to assure safe, quality patient care.
  • Facilitates the resolution of patient issues with input from the Clinical Manager and Clinical Director if needed.
  • Assists department staff with EHR functions.
  • Coordinates patient flow and provider productivity.
  • Assists Clinical Manager in the responsible use of fiscal resources.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Engages in personal development to maintain clinical practice skills and leadership skills.


Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning skills
  • Maintains strong clinical knowledge within scope of practice
  • Communication – listening, speaking, writing, and reading comprehension
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products (ex. Excel, Word, Access, Power Point) and Windows Platform.
  • Must be comfortable moving within an EHR computer system regularly and willing to obtain and maintain “Super User” status within six months of hire

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Manages timekeeping and payroll system functions for assigned employees
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Manages progressive discipline steps with employees in accordance with company policy
  • Resolves patient and provider issues
  • Conducts patient education as needed within scope of practice
  • Assist with EHR administrative functions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Patient Population:

  • Neonate to geriatric


Work Environment/Personal Protective Equipment:

This position operates in a clinical environment, PPE required as indicated.

Physical Demands:

This position requires frequent (34%-66%) sitting; occasional (1%-33%) standing, walking, or alternately sitting and standing. Frequent (34%-66%) lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs. Occasional (1%-33%) lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling 11 lbs. to 100 lbs. Frequent (34%-66%) use of hands/arms for repetitive movement and good finger dexterity. Requires 20/20 near vision, 20/40 far vision, color discrimination and accurate depth perception.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Typically work hours and days are between Monday and Friday,8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some flexibility in hours is allowed. Responsibilities occasionally may require irregular hours as deemed necessary. This may include an adjusted work schedule, long days, and early morning or late evening hours in order to meet patient scheduling demands. The employee must work a minimum of 40.0 hours each week to maintain full-time status.


Travel:

Occasional driving might be expected for this position.


Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of 5 years clinic nursing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree and advanced courses in management preferred.
  • Managerial experience preferred.


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Iowa nursing license
  • Current BLS or CPR/First Aid certification and willingness to obtain and/or maintain instructor status.
  • Mandatory reporter training for child and dependent adult abuse certificate
