Job Summary/Objective:
The Clinic Support Supervisor coordinates the day-to-day operations of patient referral coordination and interpreter, X-ray and Lab services including employee staffing within the clinic in conjunction with the Clinical Management team. Maintains open communication with providers, staff, patients, families, and other departments for an effective team approach to accomplish clinic goals and objectives. This position will also provide regular support to the department they are assigned. Performs all defined services and other related duties as assigned in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic.

- This position will use the Treatment and Health Care Operations classes of protected health information.

Essential Functions:

- Coordinates the day-to-day practice within the patient referrals, interpreter services and radiology services including providing support in the departments on a regular basis.
- Ensures patient referral coordination is being completed in a timely manner and documented accurately.
- Monitors use of interpreter services and makes suggestions for process improvement for non-English speaking patients.
- Ensures patients have access to and communication about clinic radiology services during clinic scheduled hours.
- Serves as a liaison between PCHC and laboratory providers regarding on-site laboratory services.
- Supervises sufficient qualified staff to assure safe, quality patient care.
- Facilitates the resolution of patient issues with input from the Clinical Manager and Clinical Director if needed.
- Assists department staff with EHR functions.
- Coordinates patient flow within the assigned departments.
- Assists Clinical Manager in the responsible use of fiscal resources.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
- Manages timekeeping and payroll system functions for assigned employees
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Manages progressive discipline steps with employees in accordance with company policy
- Resolves patient and provider issues
- Conducts patient education as needed within scope of the assigned departments
- Assist with EHR administrative functions
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Work Environment/Personal Protective Equipment:
This position operates in a professional office environment and is not required to wear PPE to perform the essential functions of the position.
Physical Demands:
This position requires continuous sitting (67% - 100% of shift); occasional walking (1% - 33% of shift). Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs. (1% - 33% of shift). Frequent finger dexterity and use of hands/arms for repetitive movement (34% - 66% of shift); occasional bending/stooping, kneeling, twisting, squatting/crouching, and reaching at, above, or below shoulder level. (1% - 33% of shift). Occasional Driving (1% - 33% of shift), requires 20/40 near vision.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Typically work hours and days are between Monday and Friday,8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some flexibility in hours is allowed. Responsibilities occasionally may require irregular hours as deemed necessary. This may include an adjusted work schedule, long days, and early morning or late evening hours in order to meet patient scheduling demands. The employee must work a minimum of 40.0 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
Travel:
Occasional driving might be expected for this position.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a healthcare setting, required.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and/or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, preferred.
- Managerial experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Maintenance of Iowa nursing license if previously obtained as well as maintenance of BLS certification and mandatory reporter training.
