We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Housing Specialist to join our team and lead our efforts in providing stable housing solutions to those in need.
Job Summary: The Housing Supports Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the housing assistance program, ensuring that clients receive the support they need to secure and maintain stable housing. The key goal of the position is to be able to provide housing stability and support services for those who are receiving housing subsidies through Hennepin County in scattered site apartments. The Housing Supports Coordinator will be responsible for housing search, landlord relations, and subsidy management (GRH). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social services, program management and a passion for helping others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Oversee the housing subsidy program, including program eligiblity process, assist with applications, landlord negotiation and assisting clients move into their apartments.
- Client Support: Provide one-on-one support to clients, including housing counseling, resource referrals, and follow-up services to ensure housing stability.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, housing placements, and program outcomes. Prepare and submit reports on each client on weekly basis.
- Advocacy: Advocate for clients’ needs and work to address systemic barriers to housing stability.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with social workers, case managers, and housing staff members to provide comprehensive support to clients.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field. OR
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in social work, housing management, or a related field. Experience in a similar role with a non-profit organization is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of housing regulations, tenant rights, and community resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
