Role:
The Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing and administering all aspects of the bank's compliance management program. This position plans, organizes, and controls the bank's day-to-day administrative, lending and operational compliance activities: collaborates with Executive Management in the overall administration of these directives for the bank. Participates in various committees, audits and examinations. Conducts staff training related to compliance. Advises the Board of Directors, Senior Management and bank personnel of emerging compliance issues and consults and guides the bank in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Compliance monitoring, including sampling of all loan types, reviewing the regulatory environment, acting as an information source for the bank on all matters related to compliance.
Oversee and maintain banks' complete compliance program, including Risk Management. Serves as chairperson on Risk Compliance Committee.
Training bank personnel, including counseling, concerning new or changed regulatory requirements and establishing an on-going internal compliance-training program.
Discretionary duties, including assisting other employees with compliance problems/questions and weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
Ensure continued compliance with state and federal regulations by studying existing and new legislation and recommend new policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Three years to five years of similar or related experience. Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Experience in all aspects of lending including real estate, commercial, and consumer. Requires a degree in business, preference for economics, or equivalent banking education and/or experience. Capable of operating spreadsheets and word processing programs. Requires above-average communication skills.
