Description
Our Mortgage Loan Originators are responsible for performing various duties to promote the Bank’s mortgage loan products in order to attract new loan business and refinances; achieving established sales goals as established in the Bank’s business objectives; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the mortgage loan function; communicating with appropriate personnel; and maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.
Essential Duties:
- Focuses on marketing and promotional strategies to attract new business.
- Makes presentations to various audiences; educates borrowers on loan products and process.
- Makes contact and aggressively promotes the Bank to real estate agents, builders, developers, financial planners/CPAs, attorneys, and other referral sources.
- Participates in business development activities outside the office.
- Develops a reputation as a trusted financial advisor to customers and contacts.
- Maintains contact with customers throughout the entire loan process; maintains positive client relationships.
- Attends mortgage closings or coordinates with branch representative or mortgage closer.
- Cross sells other bank products to mortgage customers.
- Primary resource for involved mortgage counseling.
- Self-Sources Mortgage Leads through business development efforts and initiatives.
- Promptly handles referrals from branches and other line of business.
- Origination through closing handling of mortgage customer.
- Enhances mortgage customer’s banking relationships with checking and other banking products.
- Conducts warm hand off for customers to branch.
- Completes community based CRA visits.
- Ability to provide professional service to our customers or prospective customers, in person, via phone, online chat or virtually (video).

Requirements
Education/Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field normally required; specialized education/training related to mortgage sales.
Skill(s): Must demonstrate strong communication skills; excellent interpersonal relations skills; proficient sales skills; proficient public speaking skills; thorough understanding of underwriting criteria and guidelines; extensive knowledge of current state and federal compliance regulations and secondary market guidelines.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of mortgage/sales experience normally required.
