Our Water/Wastewater Operator or Operator-in-Training will perform a variety of skilled, technical, and administrative work in the operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of complex Class C water and Class B wastewater treatment processes and equipment, including distribution and collections. Duties include but not limited to:
- Monitor, observe variations and interpret the performance of all equipment, gauges, meters, control panels and charts to determine processing requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on machinery and equipment. Maintain all maintenance records using the company maintenance program.
- Extract samples and performs routine and non-routine laboratory tests and analysis. Assemble instruments and equipment for analytical or search work. Safely prepare chemical and bacteriological media, stains, reagents and test solutions used in the lab. Clean, maintain and store instruments and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and logging of all pertinent information required in water and wastewater treatment operations. Work includes preparation and submittal of necessary data and report to other governmental agencies as required. Prepare and submit monthly operations and performance reports to clients as directed.
- Represent the company to other agencies and citizens with courteous, helpful, accurate and business-like demeanor; displaying a commitment to PeopleService and the work we provide to our clients.
- Order, store and account for chemicals, utilities, contract services, and other materials and supplies in the most cost-effective manner, including coding of invoices.
- Ensure the general maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment, including company vehicles and tools is performed.
- Land apply bio-solids and manage land application program.
- Performs meter reading of utility meters as required by contractual obligations.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential to this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
The work environment requires the position to be a professional dedicated to ensuring water produced is of a healthy quality for consumption and treatment wastewater does not degrade the environment. The position requires the incumbent to be responsible for maintaining or obtaining certification(s) required to properly treat water/wastewater as required by regulations, as well as working knowledge of treatment technologies.
Must regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly exposed to toxic/caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, bloodborne pathogens, as well as working in confined spaces. Position requires incumbent to actively demonstrate safety procedures.
Starting wage $18.38-$30.00 DOE and certifications
