Scope of Position
The Division President will lead divisional planning, implementation, and execution of merchandising and operations initiatives to deliver on consumer expectations and the competitive landscape related to assortment, promotional planning, and everyday value-added price points.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure a strong focus on "Local" / "Market Specific" Merchandising.
- Participate in developing the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
- Interact regularly with the division team and individual department heads to ensure that the division's priorities are aligned with the total company direction.
- Achieve / exceed revenue and profit budgets, targeted goals (e.g., safety, shrink), and financial glide paths.
- Responsible for the financial performance of area of responsibility including development of budgets (e.g., sales, shrink, labor expenses, other expenses) and other targeted goals (e.g., safety) with reports.
- Achieve return on investment on approved capital projects and assist in identifying potential capital project opportunities in geographic areas of responsibility.
- Establish and maintain effective two-way feedback on the communication and efficiency of company merchandising and operation, as well as related assortment promotional in everyday value-added, price points change management initiatives at the division and corporate level.
- Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
- Be recognized and support strong Store / Division relationships with vendors and the community
- Build a proactive and productive relationship with union officials and represent the Company as needed in litigation matters.
- Exhibit an inclusive leadership style through personal conduct and support the efforts of the Store, District, and Division Cultural Councils.
- Exercise appropriate authority and responsibility toward associates concerning Equal Opportunity Employment, Promotions, transfers, performance reviews, salary increases, terminations, and other related terms and conditions of employment.

- Identify talent and develop Successors for all level positions, including Store, Division, and Corporate.
- Partner with Human Resource professionals to ensure the adequate recruiting, hiring, training, development, and evaluation of store management and other field personnel.
- Responsible for coaching and developing all associates to ensure a pool of promotable and talented associates.
- Supervise and coach direct reports on the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
