Job Description Summary
To ensure compliance to safeguard the public’s health through enforcement and education of state, federal, and county regulatory programs and requirements. Support Environmental Health Specialists/Practitioners as necessary in inspections and investigations, and assist other staff where needed.
Requires an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 9 semester hours in the biological or health sciences. Must receive initial and annual continuing education in vector, food and water well programs (food program 5 hours/year, water well program 3 hours/year). Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Knowledge and ability to utilize computers and related technology efficiently, including but not limited to: Windows-based operating systems; Microsoft Office software such as Word, Outlook, and Excel; Presentation software such as PowerPoint and Canva; and program-specific software as necessary. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written as well as strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain working relationships with other numerous outside agencies, and the public. Must be able to handle multiple tasks with interruptions. Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
