What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Crew Leader position at Peoria Park District?
Duties: Under the supervision of the Landscape Construction Foreman or Foreman to whom assigned, the Construction Crew Leader is responsible for:
- Construction of retaining walls, concrete walkways, installing and repairing playgrounds, working on zoo exhibits, and repairing drainage ways. Maintenance, repair, and snow removal of roadways and parking lots.
- Working with other parks division maintenance crews on an as-needed basis.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the work area and assigned vehicle.
- Requisitioning supplies and equipment.
- Keeping time records and creating required reports.
- Assisting with setup and tear-down of special events.
- Moving and setting up the portable stage.
- Acting in the absence of the Construction Foreman.
- Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Supports all aspects of the Park District's safety program.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Pay Scale: Apprentice Rate: $24.85 per hour; After 3 months, base pay: $31.06 per hour. Maximum pay rate is $33.06 per hour.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to reach, pull, walk, squat, kneel, and bend at the waist and knees.
- Ability to operate machinery related to job duties.
- Ability to understand and complete record keeping and paperwork relative to job duties.
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Experience: Two years of experience in the construction field is desirable.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Basic knowledge of construction work.
- Able to operate or learn to operate construction equipment, for example: skid steer, backhoe.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Aptitude for on-the-job training.
- Ability to work harmoniously with other park district employees.
- Must maintain a valid Illinois State 'CDL' Driver's License.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
- Personal: Work record that shows reliability, initiative, and a courteous manner.
