Description
Duties: Under the supervision of the RiverPlex Recreation and Special Events Coordinator, the Recreation & Event Staff is responsible for the following:
- Work to completion on set-up, tear down, and clean-up of all areas used by the event.
- Facilitate customer service with a positive and professional attitude.
- Monitor crowd control in the location of the event.
- Know and enforce all climbing wall policies and procedures.
- Visually inspect equipment, ropes, and facility during opening and closing of the wall and report any problems immediately to the climbing wall supervisor.
- Provide Supervision of climbing wall participants to include belaying and spotting climbers.
- Handle all injuries, incidents, and emergency situations in accordance with the RiverPlex Recreation Centers guidelines.
- Provide assistance to climbers by:
- Determining eligibility of individuals to use the climbing wall
- Teaching/demonstrating the proper use of climbing equipment
- Maintaining accurate and current records of attendance
- Accurately completing all forms and checklists
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions: This work requires periodical physical exertion in handling of but not limited to tables, chairs, bleachers, portable stages, and sports game day equipment. Setting up and tearing down rooms, arenas, and sport fields. Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, sitting, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The programmed activities involve risks which are typically associated with athletic and fitness services or events, thus requiring normal safety precautions typical of the recreation industry.
Qualifications
Experience: Previous climing wall experience preferred. One year experience working in recreation setting, setting up for special events/facilitating activities.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Understanding the basic philosophy surrounding high quality fitness and recreational programming, and the ability to interpret that to the public.
- Ability to enforce all policies of the RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center.
- Ability to read directions and follow the layout of the maps for set up and tear down descriptions while working independently or within a group.
- Ability to demonstrate superior customer service while working harmoniously with the public and fellow employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
