Description
Duties: Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, the Swim Instructor is responsible for:
- Provide group or private swim lessons.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions: To perform all essential lifesaving and CPR skills in the event of an emergency, including the ability to remove a person from the water.
Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience teaching swim lessons is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
Certifications: Desired WSI certification or equivalent.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Considerable ability as a swimmer plus. Knowledge of principles and practices of pool rules, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to work harmoniously with the public and fellow employees in an enthusiastic and cooperative manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both speaking and writing.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
