Job Summary: The Special Education IEP Lead monitors and makes corrections to student census information for state reporting. The lead provides support to staff regarding the use of the PUSD IEP system. The Special Education IEP Lead monitors and guides staff to correct compliance related issues. The Lead also monitors the IEP system for programmatic issues and follows procedures to report them to the Special Education Directors and the Information Management and Technology Department.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a field related to Special Education or Information Management Technology and/or minimum of 3 years of experience related to special education information management systems.

- Provides ongoing support of the IEP system for staff.
- Monitors district wide census for state reporting and make corrections.
- Manages and maintains PUSD IEP system documents.
- Monitors IEPs and METs for compliance and provide guidance to staff for needed corrections.
- Monitors the PUSD IEP system for issues and work with IMT to make necessary corrections.
- Prepares reports for leadership related to special education and monitoring.
- Works with District and Department leadership on needed changes to the IEP system.
- Provides staff with reminders for upcoming or overdue IEPs, evaluations, and progress monitoring of special education students.
- Manages the 504 system.
- Distributes ADE Parent Survey districtwide.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge and skills:
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Peoria Unified School District policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Individual Education Plans and compliance with IDEA.
- Knowledge of database and system management.
- Knowledge of integrity errors and census rules.
- Skill in communicating and working with multiple staff members.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effecting working relations with co-workers.
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a field related to Special Education or Information Management Technology and/or minimum of 3 years of experience related to special education information management systems.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license.
- May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- May be required to lift students weighing up to 60 pounds.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours.
- May be required to travel to perform work functions.
