Job Summary :
The job of Transition Technician / WORKS is done for the purpose of providing “enhanced” Transition from School to Work (TSW) services, in collaboration with the transition teacher and other providers, to students who are clients of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). This includes the coordination and execution of evidence-based job coaching strategies which are designed to enhance work potential and maximize the employability skills of students with developmental disabilities so they can pursue integrated work opportunities (with ongoing support / services from VR) after graduation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the process of planning and preparing lessons, internships, and other learning experiences
- Assist students to engage in learning activities and complete assignments
- Facilitate pre-designed lessons / activities in class or community (1 : 1 or small groups)
- Model appropriate workplace skills and job tasks in simulated or real-world settings
- Use pre-determined inventories, checklists, and assessments to identify student learning style, interests, preferences, strengths and needs
- Transport students to and from in district and community-based work sites
- Work with supervisors and employees to ensure a mutual understanding of expectations for students
- Coach and supervise students in site-specific workplace behaviors, job tasks, and safety awareness
- Develop tools and resources to facilitate the application of learned skills and maximize performance
- Employ a gradual release of responsibility framework to foster independence in class and at work
- Contribute to, model, and reinforce independent living skills that contribute to work readiness
- Use designated tools to monitor, assess, report, and reflect on student progress
- Complete mandatory documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Promote program by providing details and information about the purpose, process, and payoff (benefits)
- Collaborate with and exchange information with home school providers
- Arrange VR-TSW meetings including mentor sessions, IPE review / sign, progress review, and senior exit.
- Attend ALL trainings, meetings, and professional learning activities by Peoria, RSA, and / or ADE
- Follow district and departmental policies and procedures and adhere to guidance given by certified staff and supervisors regarding workplace expectations and instructional practices
- Other duties as assigned by Transition Coordinator and / or Transition Strategist
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must have a regular high school diploma or G.E.D.; current Arizona Driver’s License; current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card; at least 1-year experience working with youth between the ages of 14-22
