Civil Project Manager

Civil Project Manager (Battery, Community Solar, Utility Scale Solar, etc.)

Pepper Energy (part of Pepper Construction) is accepting applications for Civil Engineering Project Managers to join our Energy Group located in our Barrington, IL office for future opportunities.

Projects in this group focus on land development for utility scale solar, battery and community solar farm projects based in Illinois. A typical scope on a project includes road design, crane path design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, mass grading, erosion and sediment control design and field reconnaissance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• Ability to manage several mid-sized projects, multiple small projects or a single larger project simultaneously is required
• Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and Civil 3D technology
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers to solve problems
• Prepare specifications materials using research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project
• Work on completing design details and plan sets
• Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates and assisting preconstruction as necessary
• Communicate with client, staff, employees and internal design team
• Ability to mentor junior level staff
  
  

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related degree, and professional engineering (P.E.)
• 3 years of experience in civil engineering related to land development civil engineering
• Must have an understanding of project accounting and demonstrated ability to manage the schedule and budget for multiple projects at the same time
• Has experience in marketing and supervision of the technical work of others
• Has working knowledge of CADD and or civil 3D software.
