MEP Estimators are responsible for the activities that occur as early as the project pursuit prior to the start of construction with a specific focus on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, and logistics planning. MEP Estimators are expected to work with people in all levels of the company to establish budget and operational priorities to help ensure a quality project.

Position Summary
MEP Estimators are responsible for the activities that occur as early as the project pursuit prior to the start of construction with a specific focus on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, and logistics planning. MEP Estimators are expected to work with people in all levels of the company to establish budget and operational priorities to help ensure a quality project.
Major Responsibilities
- Perform detailed quantity surveys both manually and electronically at all stages of the design process involving MEP systems.
- Develop detailed scopes of work and conduct scope review meetings for the MEP trades.
- Perform Value Engineering/Value Analysis.
- Perform comparable building system analysis and constructability analysis.
- Possess knowledge of cost and pricing trends and develop escalation analysis.
- Develop conceptual estimates from limited information.
- Provide knowledge and expertise to fill in missing information to provide complete estimates.
- Prepare budgets, analyze bids and itemized breakdowns for MEP trades.
- Develop qualified subcontractor's lists.
- Compile MEP Bid Matrix and confirm complete coordination between trades.
- Prepare GMP pricing and design build budgets.
- Develop and maintain library of cost breakdowns and unit costs.
- Develop and review Change Order Requests and Pricing.
- Develop and review Project Schedules.
- B.S. in Construction Engineering or related technical area
- At least seven (7) years experience in pre-construction
- Must have experience estimating HVAC projects. Ownership of estimating projects is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical systems and estimating strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities
- Strong communication skills with all levels of management
- Sustainability construction knowledge a plus
- The target salary for this position is $150,000. We consider many factors when determining actual hiring salary. These factors may include location, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, internal equity, and market demands.
