Founded in 1985, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) is committed to helping athletes optimize their health and performance through research and education in hydration and nutrition science. Responsibilities
- Demonstrating knowledge of exercise physiology, sports nutrition science, laboratory testing, research studies, and good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Support the implementation of an innovation insights program that leverages local athletes and partners to enhance insights and business efficiency to improve innovationcapabilities, including but not limited to proof-of-concept testing, sensory insights, and product validation/insights.
- Lead liaising between the Life Science Global Groups teams to streamline internal andexternal clinical research programs, effectively communicating with key internalpartners, such as GSSI Research & Development leads, Clinical Operations, and Legal, and external partners, such as University research partners.
- Supporting GSSI expansive expertise around athletic performance, health, and wellness through driving scientific research and innovation opportunities that expand our capabilities and emphasis on athletic health.Assisting with the conduct of sports science testing, including elite athlete (Dallas Cowboys!) and clinical research trial participants, which includes a variety of lab- and field-based assessments such as metabolic, body composition, biochemical, and neuromuscular assessments.
- Helping collect data, organize data sheets, prepare reports, enter data into spreadsheets and databases, and create/file study regulatory documents (i.e., CRF (Change Request Form)) in compliance with GCP and PepsiCo standards for clinical research and service provision.
- Exhibiting effective communication skills with key internal and external partners.
- Effectively managing projects, including coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. Oversee all aspects of projects. Set deadlines,assign responsibilities, and amplify project deliverables to appropriate leadership and internal stakeholders.
- Assisting with study participant recruiting and scheduling/coordinating visits to the labas needed.
- Assisting with lab- and field-based testing for elite athlete service.
- Supporting all HSE (Health Safety Education) programs, taking responsibility for personal safety and your peers' safety.
- Contributing to written (and verbal) internal summaries and articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals such as generation of manuscripts, abstracts and drafting reports that meet deadlines for team projects
Qualifications
- Master’s and, preferably, a doctorate (PhD) degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology/ Sports Nutrition or related discipline with experience in lab and, ideally, field-based research.
- Master's with 2-3 years industry experience in exercise physiology lab or applied sport science
- PhD with 0-1 years experience
- Must have a pro-active work mentality, be organized, and be flexible to work in a high performance and ever-changing environment (travel ~10% and occasional work during non-traditional hours)
- Able and willing to acquire and advance individual skills as it relates to collection of human physiological data, in the lab, on the field, and in the real-world. A basic understanding of exercise physiology and research methodology is required.
- A demonstrated ability to translate scientific findings across a diverse group of stakeholders, effectively managing communication styles.
- Excellent and demonstrated collaboration skills with focus on innovation, solutions, and managing relationships.
- Previous demonstrated experience working with athletes is preferred, including youth and/or elite athletes
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $68,000 - $113,850 based on a full-time schedule.
- Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.
- Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.
