Qualifications:
- BA/BS and 3 years of experience OR no degree with 9 years of experience.
- TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required.
- Strong experience in cartographic design, including thematic mapping, topographic representation, and reference mapping.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for cartographic design is required.
- Deep Knowledge with Esri’s ArcMap, Avenza’s MAPublisher, QGIS, and other relevant GIS tools is required.
- Experience with JavaScript mapping libraries (e.g., Leaflet, D3.js, Mapbox) is a plus.

The Cartographer will design and produce professional intelligence cartographic products that effectively communicate complex subject matter to diverse audiences. This role requires a strong balance between cartographic design principles and technical expertise, ensuring high-quality, visually compelling, and analytically sound map products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and production of cartographic products, integrating both artistic and technical elements to meet customer needs.
- Manage complex and demanding cartographic projects, including direct engagement with customers to understand requirements, facilitate brainstorming sessions, and define design expectations.
- Ensure adherence to cartographic best practices, including color theory, projections, thematic and statistical mapping, hierarchy, and data visualization techniques.
- Oversee quality control, usability, and final product delivery, ensuring compliance with internal workflow procedures, copyright laws, and established production standards.
- Work seamlessly within the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, and integrate cartographic tools such as Esri's ArcGIS, Avenza’s MAPublisher, and QGIS to create dynamic, data-driven maps.
- Utilize JavaScript mapping libraries and cartographic data visualization techniques to enhance map interactivity and functionality.
