Peraton is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team in Greenbelt, Maryland to support our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The successful candidate will be a member of a team responsible for providing technical support to communications system development projects in a development and test laboratory operated and maintained by Peraton on behalf of NASA. This position is on-site at NASA GFSC in Greenbelt, Maryland. Peraton is the prime contractor for the NASA SENSE contract, responsible for the operations, maintenance, sustainment, and development of satellite communications ground systems for NASA.
This position will be responsible for the following:
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and services on development and test lab hardware, to include cables, racks, and test equipment (for example, power meters and oscilloscopes)
- Support lab reconfigurations as needed, to include setup and removal of temporary workstations for engineers/developers who are testing at the rack, and packaging and moving items to and from storage locations
- Perform cable fabrication and testing
- Support project system integrations, migrations, and sunsets, to include installing hardware in racks and removing hardware from racks
- Support lab electrostatic discharge (ESD) program maintenance, to include lab bench monthly verification and maintenance of ESD records
- Assist with equipment shipping and receiving as needed
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Education/Experience: An Associate of Science degree or 2 years technical training in electrical, computer or networks engineering technology and 2 years of related experience; In lieu of degree, 4 years of related experience is allowable.
- Security Clearance - this position requires the candidate to have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and be able to maintain the clearance thereafter.
- General knowledge of electronic equipment installations, cable runs and terminations, equipment moves and preparation, equipment maintenance, and equipment decommissioning.
- Experience with test equipment: power meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift at least 75 pounds
Desired Experience:
- Active Secret or Interim Secret security clearance.
- Ability to work well individually and in a team environment
- Strong communication skills.
