JOB DESCRIPTION

The GIS Technician II will use a variety of technical analytical, and communication skills to independently identify and solve client and corporate data questions and develop solutions for various Corp. needs. The GIS Technician II will identify, implement, create and maintain maps, GIS layers, electronic data, and geographic computer files by independently interpreting geographic or legal source data using automated GIS tools and perform related work utilizing discretion and independent judgment to determine work necessary. Please note this posting is for future needs with the organization.

Digitizing (Converting geographic data either from a hardcopy or scanned image into vector data.)
Create professional maps from preliminary data.
Develop routes based on desktop review, identify structures, potential encroachments, permits, etc.
Data entry / records updates into Percheron project database
Create data deliverables (kmz's, shapes, geodatabase, reports, etc.)
Utilize discretion in the creation of deliverables for business unit.
Number property tracts per client / internal protocols
Convert / transform Lat / Long Data
Map leases from internal and external sites
Work efficiently under pressure with constant deadlines
Work effectively on projects simultaneously
Plot legal descriptions and boundaries
Perform standard spatial analysis such as buffering, intersects, selections, etc.
Work with minimum supervision and assist other technicians as needed.
Interface directly with field as needed and implement operating polices.
Evaluate project and client GIS needs and utilize independent judgment for decision-making regarding needs.
Able to make independent judgment / decision.
Perform majority of tasks independently without oversight
Collaborate with GIS Tech 1 as needed or instructed.
Other duties as assigned or required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

4-year degree required or a high school diploma with equivalent work experience

GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professional) preferred

Strong prior knowledge of GEOAMPS data formatting / inputs

Minimum of 3-years GIS experience required, preferably in an oil or gas related company

Excellent computer skills, technology focused

Supervisory experience preferred

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work autonomously and to collaborate fully as a team player.

Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.

Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted).

Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations and Company policies and procedures
