Summary
The purpose of this position is to perform various attribute reviews / measurements on products and / or processes to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements. Monitor and enforce company food safety policies and complete food safety and quality controls and procedures in a timely and accurate manner. Provides sample tracking, preparation and cataloging, as well as performing quantitative and qualitative microbiological testing.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs required tests on birds and rinses sent in from the plants.
- Requires the use of techniques such as the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).
- Perform daily Total Plate Counts (TPC) and accurately process daily samples brought to the laboratory for bacterial testing; accurately records and reports results.
- Prepares cultures for testing demonstrating accuracy in measurement and autoclaving procedures.
- Requires knowledge of handling various chemicals and reagents, some of which require protective gear and safety handling techniques.
- Performs general lab upkeep and sanitation; keeps work area free of safety hazards.
Minimum Education
Associates degree in related field.
Experience Requirements
2 - 4 years experience. Good communication, computer and math skills.
